Systems Thinking -- Not Just for Nerds

Having worked in and taught journalism in the 1970s, the state of journalism today is a concern of mine. Never have we needed clear and accurate information more. And yet much of what we get is driven by video images — whether it is the horror of the twin towers or the aftermath of a shooting. I am seeing a desperate need for those who are responsible for enforcing justice, for those reporting on it and those who make the laws that empower law enforcement to look beyond what the camera sees and consider the forces beyond those images. This post is about the media and systems thinking.
